So excited about how the hackathon ended that I forgot to post! Our Community Partners were all blown away by what was accomplished in just 48 hours. The hackers were still in good spirits despite a profound lack of sleep. This was an amazing experience. I wouldn't have traded it for anything. A huge thank you to everyone who participated. Now we start looking at the evaluation forms and preparing for the next one. Stay tuned!
4.5 hours to go! Many of our hackers in community service (hics?) have worked through the night. These folks continue to amaze me with their enthusiasm and determination. - Kurt
16 hours to go. The teams are working hard, but moving a little bit slower. Great dinner provided by Hell Pizza. Can't wait to see the demos tomorrow. - Kurt
22.5 hours until the submission deadline at 3pm tomorrow. Our software development teams are going strong, but I think nobody is getting as much sleep tonight as they did last night. 35 hackers, mostly UBC students, with just three weeks until final exams, and they're spending their weekend contributing their time and skills to these projects. These people are absolutely the best! - Kurt
Good Morning Vancouver! Breakfast is served (as of 8:00am), and our hackers are arriving for a full day of non-stop software development. Many thanks to all our client representatives who stayed on site really late last night to make sure our developers had all their questions answered.
First blog post from the UBC Community Hackathon. Great pitches, lots of really interesting projects across a spectrum of services for people in Greater Vancouver. 3.5 hours into the event, our developers are now meeting with our clients and gathering more information. Suddenly, folks from Red Bull arrive and start handing out their super-charged beverages. They just saw us and stopped by. Thanks! - Kurt
